Abstract

The study dataset consists of a retrospective cross-sectional analysis of 84 hospitalized patients with atrial fibrillation (AF) at Adigrat General Hospital in Ethiopia, conducted between September 1, 2019, and August 31, 2020. The dataset includes key variables such as patient demographics (sex, age, residence), comorbidities (e.g., hypertension, diabetes), times of admission for AF, and risk assessment scores (CHA2DS2-VASc and HAS-BLED). The primary focus is on the prescription patterns of oral anticoagulants (OACs) and other antithrombotic therapies, capturing both the type and appropriateness of medications prescribed to patients classified with a CHA2DS2-VASc score of 1 (beyond sex). Data was collected by trained hospital pharmacists using a structured abstraction tool and was analyzed using statistical software to identify factors influencing OAC therapy and prescription appropriateness
